Having returned home on Oct 31, 2009, I wanted to let you and your people know how much we enjoyed and appreciated our Rome tour.
Sartorio, our driver was waiting for us at the ships' pier. He was a great driver and got us to Rome in good time, considering it was a Monday morning .
In Rome, we met Katherine, our guide, what a sweetheart! Her explanations of the sights we saw , her intimate knowledge of the Vatican, the Colosseum, the Pantheon, etc. was amazing.
Being a history buff, I fully appreciated her time in explaining the details of the wonderful sights we were priviledged to see.
As lunch time approached, we asked Katherine to find a nice Italian restaurant where we could sit down talk with her and our driver, whom we asked to be our guests at lunch. It was such a fun time, as we went to this small out of the way restaurant where the Pasta Bolognese and Lasagna were to die for.What a great time!
As our tour approached its end, we hugged Katherine, thanked her profusely and reluctantly said our goodbyes. On the road back to the ship, Sartoria stopped on the Palatine so we might photograph the magnificence of Rome.
We our four senior citizens, so Katherine was very good at keeping our tour at a pace we could navigate. It was apparent to her that my husband could not walk the Vatican tour, so he and Sartorio stayed together at a small sidewalk cafe where he could drink his cappuccino --which to him is heaven.
I want o thank you, Daniele, your company and your employees for the time and care which was given to us. The tour was all I had hoped for and more but only because of the care given and taken to insure such a wonderful personal experience.
I would recommend your company in a heartbeat to anyone wanting a positive and personal caring tour when in Rome.

We were really pleased with the 3 tours we took with you when we were in Rome. The tour guides were so knowledgeable and really friendly. We were the only 'Brits' on one tour and enjoyed some friendly banter with the American tour we joined. My husband & I were on a 7 day western Mediterranean Cruise in May of 2009 & were not able to find an excursion with the cruise ship that would allow us to see everything that we wanted to see. My husband had been to Rome before, but this was my first trip & I wanted to see everything I possibly could. He did his research & found When In Rome tours. After several email conversations with Danielle, we decided to book a tour with them instead of the cruise ship. They had a wonderful driver meet us up at the ship early in the morning the day we arrived & he drove us into Rome to meet our tour guide. Anne Marie was an amazing tour guide who not only helped us get to see everything that I wanted to see, but she made our day very enjoyable. She was very knowledgeable on everything in Rome that we saw & was more then willing to take pictures of my husband and I. If ever we get the chance to go back to (which we should, because we threw our coins in the Trevi fountain) we would definitely use When in Rome tours to see other parts of that beautiful country. We recently returned home from a trip to Europe which included a visit to Rome. I had booked a 2 day private tour with When in Rome for our family of 5. My husband and I were worried about how well our 3 children (ages 10, 7, and 5) would do on a tour and if they could be kept engaged. It turns out our fears were in vain because AnneMarie was wonderful. All of us learned so much about the ancient city and at the Vatican. She spent time talking to the kids and making the history come alive for them, which is exactly what we wanted. We were able to alter our tour to fit our needs (which is necessary with a 5 year old). She went above and beyond by helping us get acclimated to Rome (crossing the streets, riding the Metro, and ordering at a pastry shop). My kids were so sad that we weren't spending our whole time in Rome with her! We were so happy to have learned anecdotal history and were able to traverse Rome with ease after our tours. We shopped online for a private tour of Rome and were worried that the lower price would affect the quality of our tour. We were pleasantly surprised when Ann Marie met us at our hotel and within the first five minutes of our walking tour we knew exactly that was just what we were looking for! Ann Marie was very intelligent, knowledgeable and well versed in Roman history and did an excellent job in telling the story as we walked the streets from the Spanish Steps all the way to the Coliseum. She always had interesting tidbits to point out and her sense of humor made it pleasurable for our party of four! How can I best tell this in the space I have?
We needed a tour of Rome, as an art major I had studied, copied and was lectured about many of the art treasures there. As a history minor, I had also learned much about Rome (not to mention the many (mostly not all that accurate)movies I had seen. My wife has a walking difficulty which necessitates using a walker in many situations.
Since we had two days, we split the trip into segments that would make it easy for her. Our guide Anne Marie did just that. We covered the areas in sequences that were easy for my wife, including rest stops, where we could still learn from the area around us, Anne Marie knew all the ramps and lifts that would move us easily about the city. And did she know Rome! I found things I had forgoten, and things I never knew! We saw and had explained to us details that amazed our companions on the cruise ship who had just used the shore excursion provided by the ship contractor. We used the train to come to Rome from Citivavecchio, and she was there to meet us, even when we had to make a change in schedule. She was better than any guide we had in other areas covered by our ship scheduled stops. Add to this her charming attitude and lilting bit of brogue and her personal interest - it was a wonderful experience. So, it did cost a bit more, but it was well worth it. Let me add that for many years I was a volunteer backstage tour guide at our Old Globe theater here in San Diego. So, I write this from some perspnal experience with trying to impart a lot of facts in a short time period. This Irish lass is a treasure, hang on to her, give her a raise, or a bonus (just don't ask me to pay for it, having returned from three weeks in Europe, I am broke - in both Euros and dollars!)

We just wanted to say how much we enjoyed our private tour with Aoife. She made the day fun and informative and all four of us had a great time. We wondered how she was able to tell us so much and yet make it concise enough to keep our interest. We would all highly recommend Aoife as a guide, she was very good company.
I just want to tell you Thank You for working with me/us for a walking tour of Rome and the shuttle trips. We all enjoyed our walking tour with Federica. Once she realized that we all could not walk quickly she did her best to slow down, considering that we had 15 people, only 1 lady was slow, so that's not too bad, Federica was also wonderful enough to put her in a taxi to the resturant at the last hour. We all enjoyed the resturant you suggested and were so happy for the shuttle ride home.
Federica was also so helpful to the lady who lost her bag at the airport and had no medicines. She was able to help the pharmacy get new meds. Thank you.
The rest of the vacation had many more tour guides, but we found Federica had the most knowledge, and best English. Thank you sooo much.
I was able to rent a car my last day in Rome and drove to Orvieto, that was a great day for me. That also taught me that driving in Italy is not impossible, even if the crazy drivers had me believing that for 11 days. :) If / when I return I will rent a car, but I will definitely give your company name to everyone I know going to Rome.

A group of 8 of us met with Aoife who was from Ireland. SHe was a delight and had so much knowledge to share with us. We did Old Rome in the morning and the Vatican in the afternoon - for a total of 8.5 hours and we could have done more. She really was an exceptional guide and gave us so much information, particularly about the Sistine Chapel which she gave to us before we went into the chapel. This really was a big help so that we actually knew what to look for when we did get into the chapel. Would recommend your tours and our guide to anyone. Well worth the money.

we were well taken care of by ann marie who met us at our train stop in rome. (we caught an early train from bologna). she made sure we were always comfortable. we felt so relaxed and were able to appreciate rome's beauty. she adapted the tour of all the memorable locations to me and my 9 yr old. i appreciated her listening to my daughter and taking the time to explain the culture of that time, the culture of the people of rome's amazing history.

We really enjoyed our private tours of Rome and Pompei. Ann Marie, our guide in Rome was such a joy and her stories of ancient Rome really made the city come alive. I had the good fortune to meet up with Kimberly, one of your quides, last year, and take the full tour of the Vatican Museum and St Peter's Basicila. It was informative, energetic, and fun (Kimberly had the best sense of humor, sometimes a little on the irreverent side that made all of us laugh!) Our famliy of 8 could not have enjoyed our 2 days in Rome with our tour guide Ann Marie any more than we did. We had mid 70's, mid 40's and teenagers in our group, and we all equally felt as if we could not have made a better choice than we did to see this beautiful, historic and very large city in the 2 days we had. magnificent private tour you planned for my friends and I for 01 June.
Our tour guide, Aoife, was spectacular. She was exceptionally
knowledgeable about the city's history, culture, monuments and all the
sites we visited. Her stories and anecdotes were wonderful and we all
learned so much from her. We spent 10 hours touring everything from
the Colosseum, Forums and Capitoline Hill to Castel St. Angelo, the
Basilica of San Clemente, Scala Santa, Cappuchin Crypt, San Luigi dei
Francesi, Church of St. Agnes, and Piazzas Venezia, Della Rotonda and
Navona.
Aoife was very accommodating and attentive to our needs. I had a cast on my leg and had difficulty walking on the unpaved paths and hills. She was conscientious about stopping at places along the way where I could sit and rest my foot as she continued her descriptions of what we were seeing in such a way that it did not seem like I was holding up the tour.
We covered an amazing amount of ground, saw all we planned and more, enjoyed every minute of the day, and had the best tour guide in all of Rome. Thank you so much for choosing Aoife for us. All four of us adored her and the experience exceeded all our expectations. My only regret is that I did not learn of When in Rome until after I had booked our other tours for the week. I definitely would have preferred using your company. We will be sure to recommend you to anyone we know that is planning a trip to Rome and if we are lucky enough to come back ourselves will call you first - but only if we can have Aoife again!!!

Ann Marie, was exceptional. It was like having your sister guide you
through the "Heart" of Rome. We ran into a previous day's family Anne
guided through Rome and the children were ecstatic about seeing Anne.
The little 3 year boy HAD to give Anne a kiss goodby. A testimonial to
Anne's proffesionalism, knowledge and just plain old fun to be with.

City Tour. Our tour guide, Romie (sp), was just delightful. She
really gave us a wonderful tour that I don’t think we would have gotten
from another tour guide. Being from Florida was also a bonus for us
since that is where we are from. She was so knowledgeable about the

I booked this tour for myself and three friends on the internet from
the UK. Your confirmation was efficient & detailed and we easily
met up with your representative who introduced our guide Aoife.

I just wanted to say how much fun we had with Abby as our tour guide for the "Rome in a Day" tour on Tuesday, 3/18/08. She was AMAZING!!! On Thursday, April 26, 2007, my wife and I took your Vatican tour. It
was just wonderful!!! Unfortunately, I'm having a senior moment and
can\'t remember the name of our tour guide but can remember just about
everything else about her. She was petite, dark haired, attractive,
originally from California, USA, married an Italian and has three
children, one of whom was having his birthday celebration that evening.
The young woman explained everything so well and with such enthusiasm.
She even helped my wife, who was rather an amateur with her new digital
camera, get some excellent shots, a particularly excellent one of the
"Pieta" through glass and another one of the Pope's balcony.
The tour made us feel special, as though we were the only ones and not part of a larger group, more personalized and friendly.

Dear When in Rome,
I wanted to tell you what an excellent time we had on our tour with Eva.
She was such a fun guide from Ireland. She spoke English and Italian great.
I was skeptical of spending the money just from booking it through a
website, but my fears were quickly put to rest, when a driver picked us up
from our cruise ship and waited at least 1/2 hour for us to check into our
hotel and then took us to the Colesseum to meet Eva. Not only was she
waiting for us, but had already purchased tickets for us to enter the
Colesseum, so we would have a minimal wait. She paced the tour perfect for
our group of 4 giving us a great amount of information and making sure we
saw as much as we could in the 8 hour tour. She also saved us money helping
negotiate taxi rides. At one time taxis wanted to charge 30-40 Euros for a
quick little drive. She found a taxi driver to do it for 10 Euros. Thank
you so much for giving us such a great guide which made our one day in Rome
a great success!

We had a most enjoyable day tour in Rome (our first visit)Although we
had only a limited stay the city tour was enough to give us a flavour
of the city and we were able to see a number of the main tourist sites
as well as using the transport services. Our tour guide (Abbey) was

'When in Rome Tours' are fantastic!!! We were attempting to visit the
Vatican (and the Sistine Chapel) on our own . . . while filing through
the hall of maps I began listening to a tour guide. Since I was eaves
dropping on her, I thought it best to ask to join her tour. She checked
with her existing members (about 8 people) and we joined. This was the
best thing we could have done. We got so much information it is what
truly made our visit memorable. We were so impressed with Kimberly that
we called the company to book a tour of the Roman Forums and the
Coliseum for the next day. WOW! Julie was just as great as Kimberly.

We recently did a Vatican City tour with Julia. Despite the rain and
the hour queue, she kept us entertained and spellbound for 5 hours,

My wife and I recently spent three days in Rome, and had the good
fortune to have Kimberley give us a guided tour of the Vatican Museum.
Kimberley is extremely knowledgable of the Art and history of Vatican
City. So much so that we decided to take a second opportunity to visit
to St.Peters Basilica in two days, just because she brought the whole
place to life. My Wife and I both agree that Kimberley was the most
entertaining and interesting tour guide that we have ever had. Highly
recommended.

My husband and I just returned from out wonderful 10 days in your beautiful country of Italy and I simply had to take a moment to write and tell you that your tour was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. We took the tour of The Vatican City and were so excited by it that we still haven't stopped talking about it. Beside the fact that the museum and the Saint Peters Church are so unbelievably beautiful,your guide Kimberly made it such an experience to remember. Her breadth of knowledge is so very impressive but what my husband and I were most impressed with was how personal she made her tour. She was so friendly and concerned with everyone in our group that we all could hear and understand her well and although the history could be daunting, she made it very clear and interesting and fun for us, throughout. My husband and I have taken many tours in the past but we both agree that this is one of the best we have ever had! I brought my daughter to Rome as a high school graduation present and
we were fortunate enough to have your guide Kim approach us and offer
us a tour of The Vatican City. I wasn't sure if my daughter would
remain interested during the whole tour but with Kim, the 3 hours flew
by and my daughter was enchanted the entire time. We then scheduled a
tour of the Colosseum and Roman Forum with another of your guides,
Julie. She was also adorable. My daughter was so fascinated with the
history that she is now determined to begin researching in order to

This letter is to let you know how much I enjoyed the expertise and
sense of humor of our tour guide in Rome, Julia......What a wonderful
introduction to Rome! Julia's in-depth knowledge of Rome and its
history sparked my own curiosity about Rome and its complex history.
Her passion for the city and its history was enjoyed by all in our
group throughout all of the tours. And a note to Julia.......you DID
NOT lose my husband and I at the Vatican.......his insistence on
following the written instructions ( signs as we exited the Sistine
Chapel, for example) far outweighs his listening skills! We followed
the signs in the Sistine Chapel and went left, not right as you had
told us and soon found ourselves outside the Museum, and unable to
re-enter......we rested a bit before enjoying a leisurely (and long)
walk back to our hotel. Please know that I will recommend Julia
specifically to anyone traveling to Rome. Many Thanks!
