Semi-Private Day Trip to Pompeii & Sorrento

 An intimate journey back in time to explore the ancient city of Pompeii, buried by ash during one of nature's most devastating volcanic eruptions. In addition to Mt. Vesuvius, we travel to Sorrento to experience a taste of the characteristic Campania region of southern Italy.

Our luxury air conditioned van will pick up clients at hotels located within the center of Rome (those staying outside the center will meet us at the central departure point).  We will begin the journey South through the Campania region with a short stop for a cappucino and snack at the bar before arriving in Pompeii at approximately 10:30.

A local expert guide will lead us on an archaeological journey through the ancient city of Pompeii. During this 2 hour visit in English you will learn about this mysterious city that was covered in ash during the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in the year 79 AD. Through the astonishing remains and ruins of this ancient city, you will get a true glimpse of the everyday life during the Imperial Age and imagine the horror felt by these people in their last moments of life before the city was so disastrously buried.  

Once the tour has ended we will travel to Sorrento, the gateway to the Amalfi Coast. In Sorrento we invite you to join us for a leisurely lunch typical of the Campania region. Our hosts will serve a local selection of appetizers, a pasta or risotto dish with fresh seafood, dessert, and coffee (ordering a la carte also possible). Should you prefer, you may explore on your own and meet us later on for the return home.

After lunch, you will have some free time to explore this wonderful coastal town and its many shops which sell local specialties such as Limoncello and delicious pastries, as well as to take in the dramatic views of the stunning Amalfi Coast from the scenic Sorrento overlook.

At 4:00 PM you will meet our driver for the return journey to Rome, arriving at hotels between 7:00 and 7:30 PM.

(Not included in cost are: Entry tickets to Pompeii of 11 euro per person, lunch (choice of fixed price menu at 20 Euro per person for menu outlined above, or a la carte), personal extras.

Group size: This tour has a limit of 16 people in order to guarantee the level of service that can only be enjoyed by a small group. Average group size is 8.
