Overview

“Rome in a Day Small Group” tour is the sensible way to immerse yourself in the magic and history of Rome and the Vatican City with local expert guides. Tour the city’s most historic sights as part of a small group for a more intimate experience.

Your small group Rome and Vatican tours begin in the morning with the famous Colosseum, witness to violent gladiator fights and bloody brutality in the not-so-distant past. In the Roman Forum, surrounded by majestic, ruined temples once frequented by Emperors, you will learn about ancient Rome and the rapid growth of the Roman Empire before it’s eventual, inevitable demise.

Gleaming Trevi fountain marble awaits! It was recently restored by Fendi at great cost, surely reflected in the crystal clear waters which fall over and around the majestic, mythical men and beasts which adorn the structure. $1.5 million was thrown into the blue in 2016… be sure to make your small contribution too! The Pantheon, a pagan temple in ancient times and final resting place of Raphael Sanzio da Urbino, Vittorio Emanuele II, and Umberto I, is your next destination. Stare up at the oculus and marvel at the most spectacular building in Rome, perhaps the world! A few steps on and we arrive at Piazza Navona, the Circus of Domitian in antiquity where fierce rivals Gian Lorenzo Bernini (Fountain of the Four Rivers) and Francesco Borromini (Church of St Agnes in Agony) clashed through their representations of Baroque art.

Our afternoon guided Vatican tour includes the Pio-Clementine Museum, Room of the Muses, the Round Room, the Greek Cross Room, Gallery of Tapestries, Gallery of Maps, Raphael’s Rooms and the omnipotent Sistine Chapel. Thereafter we make our way outside to St. Peter’s Square where the tour concludes. “Skip-the-line” access to St. Peter’s Basilica will be provided by the guide should you wish to visit the basilica on your own.

Meeting point info will be sent in booking confirmation e-mail. For security reasons, backpacks, rucksacks, large handbags, luggage etc. are banned inside the Coliseum, Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill.

Rome in a Day tour

I must say this tour was well worth the money. The first half of the tour was with Chiara, she was amazing. One of our tour mates suggested Chiara should become a professional comedian.. šŸ™‚ Her energetic style to the tour kept everyone engaged and hooked onto every word. Chiara was very protective of the group and would challenge anyone that tried to interfere with her tour group. If you are so lucky to get Chiara as a tour guide make sure you ask her about the "engagement ring" - she will know what you are talking about.. The second half of the tour was with another great tour guide, she gave my daughter and I a tour of the vatican museum and chapel. She too was awesome and very knowledgable about the museum. My overall experience with the tour company was a very pleasant one. I would recommend anyone that has limited time in Rome to do the Rome in a day tour.

Great Tour of Rome

I would recommend this tour to anyone who wants to see as much of Rome as they possibly can! We had a very small group and Kierra was an amazing tour guide. She was so informative and would answer any of our questions. The best part was the books she had. I loved the Rome one so much I bought one after the tour! The Vatican was also really cool to see. The Sistine Chapel was amazing along with the other paintings there.

Review for Rome in a day tour

It was my first solo trip to Rome and I decided to book this tour. The tour guides (Sara for the ancient Rome tour and Maggie for the afternoon tour) were awesome and knowledgeable. Both were interactive and made my tour a memorable one. My tour companions were just out of this world. This guided tour would be etched in my memory forever.

Amazing Rome tour & Vatican tour

I would highly recommend this tour and tour company. We only had a day in Rome so decided the best way to make the best use of the day was to book onto the full day tour. Easy to book, good instructions about where to meet and friendly staff. We went to Vatican in the morning and Colosseum in the afternoon as well as the city tour (with Chiara). The group size was small. We learnt so much and it was just brilliant. We didn't have to queue, we had someone with local knowledge so no need to struggle with finding or way around and she was lovely and full of knowledge.

Would like to say thank you for the two excellent tours we received on Dec. 9. Both of our guides (Chiara in the morning and Maggie for the Vatican in the afternoon) were personable, extremely knowledgable, and clearly enjoyed what they were doing. I would definitely recommend these tours; we learned so much. Thanks again.
