ROME IN A DAY SMALL GROUP TOUR
This is our top-rated full day Rome and Vatican experience, with skip the Vatican line entry and priority tickets into the Colosseum. Access to St. Peter's Basilica included!
Rome's favourite full day small group walking tour includes the Colosseum (Flavian amphitheatre), ancient Roman forum, the Imperial fora of Caesar, Augustus, Vespasian, Trajan and Nerva, the Capitoline Hill, Vatican City, Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel, St. Peter's Square and Basilica (from outside), Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona, Spanish Steps and Pantheon with one of our expert guides!
08:45 AM for 09:00 AM start. Your guide will meet you at an on site meeting point near Rome's ancient city and begin the tour with the Colosseum. Once inside this massive structure you will wander across the arena floor while hearing all about the violent games that took place there, what went into the making of a gladiator, and the importance of violent entertainment to the inhabitants of Rome in antiquity. We then switch gears and head up Via Sacra to enter the Roman Forum, where you'll be proffered a glimpse into what life might have been like during the reign of dictator Gaius Julius Caesar, and that of Emperor Nero Claudius Caesar Augustus Germanicus. Before leaving the forum, we will discuss how the Roman Empire expanded so quickly, and of course how and why it collapsed.
We visit the newly restored (by Fendi) Trevi fountain before entering the remarkable Pantheon, a pagan temple in ancient times and final resting place of Raphael Sanzio da Urbino, Vittorio Emanuele II, and Umberto I. Your guide will explain the architectural style of the Pantheon and inscriptions thereon. You will have the opportunity to stare up at the oculus and marvel at the most spectacular building in Rome. A few steps away from the Pantheon is our last port of call on this morning tour - Piazza Navona. Known as the Circus of Domitian in antiquity (11 metres underground today), Piazza Navona is where fierce rivals Gian Lorenzo Bernini (Fountain of the Four Rivers) and Francesco Borromini (Church of St Agnes in Agony) clashed with stunning representations of Baroque art. Street artists, actors, and traditional Roman markets embellish this beautiful square day and night.
At approximately 13:15 PM, after a four (4) hour tour, we retire for lunch. While lunch is taken separately, your guide will be happy to make recommendations.
After lunch at 14:45 PM we meet again at our office close to the Vatican Museums entrance for a 15:00 PM tour start. Once inside the Vatican you will be guided through major galleries including the Pio-Clementine Museum, Room of the Muses, Round Room, Greek Cross Room, Gallery of Tapestries, Gallery of Maps, Rooms of Raphael and Sistine Chapel.
We then head to St. Peter's Square where the tour concludes on the portico. If you want to visit the church, your guide will provide you with skip the line access.

"I would recommend this tour to anyone who wants to see as much of Rome as they possibly can! We had a very small group and Kierra was an amazing tour guide. She was so informative and would answer any of our questions. The best part was the books she had. I loved the Rome one so much I bought one after the tour! The Vatican was also really cool to see. The Sistine Chapel was amazing along with the other paintings there."

"It was my first solo trip to Rome and I decided to book this tour. The tour guides (Sara for the ancient Rome tour and Maggie for the afternoon tour) were awesome and knowledgeable. Both were interactive and made my tour a memorable one. My tour companions were just out of this world. This guided tour would be etched in my memory forever."

"I would highly recommend this tour and tour company. We only had a day in Rome so decided the best way to make the best use of the day was to book onto the full day tour. Easy to book, good instructions about where to meet and friendly staff. We went to Vatican in the morning and Colosseum in the afternoon as well as the city tour (with Chiara). The group size was small. We learnt so much and it was just brilliant. We didn't have to queue, we had someone with local knowledge so no need to struggle with finding or way around and she was lovely and full of knowledge. :-) "

"I would like to say thank you for the two excellent tours we received on Dec. 9. Both of our guides (Chiara in the morning and Maggie for the Vatican in the afternoon) were personable, extremely knowledgable, and clearly enjoyed what they were doing. I would definitely recommend these tours; we learned so much. Thanks again."
